Director’s Message
Welcome to the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Our School has a positive, student-centered, vibrant culture emphasizing student involvement, community engagement and a steadfast commitment to advance the health and well-being of the people of North Carolina and beyond. Our vision is focused on increasing equity, access, mobility, inclusion, belonging, and social justice. (The School’s Vision Statement is responsive to social work degree accreditation requirements set by the Council on Social Work Education.) We strive toward our vision through innovative and experiential education, high-impact research, and collaborative community engagement.
We offer Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) Programs, both fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Additionally, we are part of an interdisciplinary collaboration that offers a Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Mental Health. BSW and MSW students have opportunities to become certified in School Social Work, and be a part of the NC Child Welfare Collaborative.
We are physically located conveniently and centrally on campus, across the street from the Student Union. You’ll easily see the copper dome on the College of Health and Human Services building, right above the School of Social Work suite on the 4th floor. In addition to our on-campus presence, we are proud to also offer a fully online pathway to earn the MSW degree, which affords working professionals an opportunity to earn a graduate degree without coming to campus.
We believe that the School of Social Work is the people. We are made up of our students and alumni, our faculty members and staff, helping professionals at community agencies where students learn through practicum placements, and our community-based research partners and supporters. We welcome you to learn more about becoming a part of the UNC Charlotte School of Social Work community.
